Malpractice Insurance

Are you really covered? That’s an important question to ask when you work with a locum tenens agency. At Locum Leaders, all of our providers are covered by occurrence malpractice insurance, which offers lifetime protection. Compare this to a ‘claims made’ policy, which only offers coverage for the duration of the policy. With claims made insurance, if the policy holder (the agency) goes out of business or discontinues the policy, then you as a provider have exposure and will be uncovered for prior acts. Does your agency guarantee tail coverage on a claims-made policy and if so, what happens if they guarantee tail and go out of business?

You should also have confidence in the financial security of your agency’s insurance carrier. Locum Leaders works with Medical Protective (MedPro), the nation’s oldest medical malpractice insurer. MedPro maintains an A++ rating by A.M. Best and is owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway investment group. The company is licensed and admitted in all fifty states. Our policy with Med Pro has limits for $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 per aggregate or higher limits, if required by a state. If a state offers a compensation fund, Locum Leaders may enroll the Provider in this fund to total the above amounts.

For your security, doesn’t it make sense to choose a locum tenens agency committed to lifetime malpractice insurance and a financially stable insurance carrier? That’s Locum Leaders.
